Best-known work: Bubi lamp from Pandul, ‘The Great Fish Dish’ from Georg Jensen
The Bubi Lamp was designed by world-famous Danish designer Henning Koppel, who was a great artist. He was educated from the Danish Art Academy in Copenhagen and from Academie Rancon in Paris.
In 1945 he started designing silver for Georg Jensen Silversmiths. Here Koppel reformed the traditions within Danish silver and made Georg Jensen one of the leaders in Scandinavian design.
With his simple and organic-shaped jewelry, his true talent was creating shape. His most famous piece is ‘The Great Fish Dish’, which contains of two dishes of silver with the shape of a fish mouth in each end. Today the dish costs almost 1 million Danish kroner.
Henning Koppel designed porcelain, watches, glass furniture and lamps - including the Bubi lamp, produced today by Pandul.
