Rice or noodles with fish or meat, typically with cooked or pickled vegetables. A bento is a Japanese portion of food - either prepared at home or bought ready-made. A typical bento is packaged in a small container with compartments separating the different items contained in the box, often with a lid so you can take it with you to work or on a picnic. Bento actually comes from the Chinese word biandang, meaning handy! Clever!
There's no doubt that the popular food has inspired Los Angeles-based designer Adam Miller when he designed Abento for Blomus. The clever tray is compartmentalised, just like a typical bento, and comes in beautiful light-coloured wood with two feet for easy pick-up.
Use it in the kitchen as a serving dish, in the living room as a decoration or in the office as an organising tray.
