Astep Lamps

The “Astep” name refers to the necessary motion behind a never-ending journey. A journey where the keyword is ‘development’. Astep is a forward-thinking company that builds on the legacies left by two major entrepreneurs: Allessandro’s father, Riccardo Sarfatti, and his grandfather, Gino Sarfatti. Allessandro Sarfatti’s goal with the Astep brand is to create home products that carve out a more pronounced place for digital technology. The beautiful collection features re-designs of iconic subjects designed by Gino Sarfatti and Vittoriano Viganò. Two designers whose designs were characterised by their optimistic and forward-thinking approach.

A future-oriented vision that creates world-class designs

Allessandro Sarfatti’s designs pay tribute to the best of what has been and transforms it into the heart and soul of what is to come.
The thought process behind everything he does is crystal clear: we have to move forward to find something more meaningful, respectful, and relevant.
If we can do that, then every step is just as valuable as the next and deserves the same amount of respect and thoughtfulness.

Model 2065 is one of these re-designs, designed by Gino Sarfatti back in 1950. The pendant was redesigned by Allessandro Sarfatti in 2016, adding a new version of the classic that consolidated its position as a more pronounced design.

Born into a world of designer lighting solutions

Allessandro Sarfatti is the third generation of the family to work with lighting solutions. The story began long before his birth but makes up a huge part of his success and DNA.
Allessandro’s grandfather founded the lighting company Arteluce in 1939, becoming the first to introduce the lighting industry to designer lighting.
With their love for each other and a passion for light, Allessandro’s parents founded Luceplan in 1978. A third party helped make design history, namely the Italian architect Paolo Rizzatto, who managed to combine design and technology. Both Arteluce and Luceplan created one iconic product after the other.

“We must work in all directions and in each one find a small amount of innovation."
My father used to say this, and he was right.
