Award-winning classic in beautiful new colors: now the Taccia Table Lamp from Flos is also available in white
Although the acclaimed design classic Taccia from Italian design company Flos is more than 60 years old, the beautiful lamp stands out as a timeless piece of design art that still stands as a pinnacle of innovative lamp design today. This is not only due to the lamp's creative design and beautiful lighting, but also because the lamp concept has continued to evolve over the years, allowing it to live on in the new age of technology. The latest addition to the Taccia family is a range of beautiful table lamps with smart LED lighting that stays true to the original lighting philosophy that forms the basis of the iconic design.

The story dates back to 1958, when the leading designer of the time Achille Castiglioni and his brother Pier Giacomo Castiglioni joined forces to conceive a lamp with indirect lighting. The brothers then began work on the prototype for Taccia, but after several tests, they had to abandon the plastic version as the heat from the light source simply deformed the plastic shade. In March 1962, the development of the lamp was completed and the final prototype was made with an aluminum reflector and a glass shade that could withstand the heat from the light source. In 2010, Flos explores the possibility of making an LED version and this is the first time the iconic lamp is further developed. In 2016, the use of PMMA for the shade is tested. Thanks to the new COB LEDs, which have minimal heat emission, it is now possible to produce Taccia with a plastic shade, which was the designers' original idea in 1958.

The LED table lamp now comes in two new versions with a white paint finish on the lamp base, one in its original size, the other in a Small version, which at 48 cm fits perfectly on a console table or wall shelf. See them both along with the rest of the Taccia range here
