The collaboration between Joan Gaspar and Marset began in 1996, and since then, Gaspar has been developing new products and steered the design firm in new directions. For decades, the firm has been known for being more than just an average lamp company, but rather an innovative design firm with a range of exclusive products of exquisite quality. Something Joan Gasper has always appreciated when it comes to lighting and design.

Joan Gaspar was born in Barcelona in 1966. This is where he grew up, and his interest in designing and creating lamps began to develop in 1988, when he started working with VAPRO SA. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with a range of design firms, including Roca, Resol, Made Design, and Marset. Although his style of design has been in a state of constant development, he has stayed true to his minimalist origins.

Amongst his works is the popular Plaff-on wall lamp
designed for Marset. A wall lamp made from high-quality aluminium and handblown opal glass. The compact shape of the lamp sets it apart and ensures soft lighting for any hallway.

About Marset – Joan Gaspar

Since the 1940s, Marset has been manufacturing lamps based on their definition of good design: a product with classic lines that creates a lovely glow with a variety of effects. The family-owned Spanish firm is known for an exclusive range of designer lamps of the highest quality and most impressive durability.

FollowMe is one of the most popular lamps carried by Marset. The decorative table lamp can be carried around the house or out onto the terrace, depending on where you need light. The built-in battery can be charged by USB, and the lamp provides cosy lighting for up to 20 hours. The lamp is just one of the examples that Marset focuses on more than the product itself, but also on the light – on creating and improving quality of life for consumers.

Joan Gaspar has been teaching at the Elisava School of Design in Barcelona, focusing on materials and technologies used in industrial design. He opened a professional design studio in Barcelona in 2002 that collaborated with various companies to develop new concepts. He was very interested in showing the process, right from idea to final product, and showing how to achieve the desired result.

Joan Gasper has numerous design awards to his name, including the Interior Design Best of Year 2017 for his Jaima Collection. This outdoor lamp collection was focused on creating a lampshade for outdoor use. It was made from PVC-coated polyester fabric to maintain the appearance and quality of indoor lighting.
