the 9602 Floor Lamp Brass/Pierre Frey is an iconic piece of design history dating back to 1935, when the first 9602 Floor Lamp was conceived by Finnish designer Paavo Tynell for Hotel Aulanko in Helsinki. The lamp is characterised by an elegant design that gracefully combines different geometric shapes into a cohesive whole. The frame and base are made of brass with a shiny surface polish, while the beautiful motifs of the lampshade are a nod to the Parisian textile house Maison Pierre Frey. This adds a dreamlike dimension to Tynell's creation and successfully connects northern and southern European design traditions. The frame is also wrapped in rattan, giving the lamp a tactile element. To top it all off, the very top of the lampshade is dominated by a brass element that beautifully matches the base, creating the 9602 Floor Lamp's distinctive signature.
