Lighting and architecture in a beautiful union with the Meter floor lamp from Pholc
In a beautiful display of design-oriented Scandinavian minimalism, the Nordic collaboration between Swedish lighting company Pholc and Danish design duo Maria Bruun and Anne Dorthe Vester has created a monumental light source that simultaneously catches everyone's eye and blends beautifully into the interior: Meter. The lamp is named after its imposing stature of one meter but is also available in a smaller version of half a meter. The sober, goal-oriented naming of the lamp series is indicative of the ingenuity and rigor behind the design. In the drawings for Meter, Bruun and Vester crossed design with architecture and art with a focus on abstraction, resulting in a minimalist and hyper-simple design that exudes character in every detail.
In its design, the Meter is reminiscent of a column as known from ancient Greece. The wide diameter and impressive height, combined with the white cover and the beautiful fluting that runs the length of the lamp, completes its architectural design and makes it an aesthetic addition that fits especially well in larger spaces with a taste for simplicity and neutral tones.
The sleek design is beautifully highlighted when the lamp is switched on and the entire structure lights up in a soft, atmospheric glow. As the screen completely encloses the light source, the light only shines indirectly into the room through the thin white fabric, ensuring a soft and even distribution of light. You can also adjust the strength of the light thanks to the built-in dimming function, ensuring the right backlight for any time and purpose.
