210 Wall light, black and copper - Lampe Gras

The 210 wall light is an icon of the 20th century; its origins date back to 1922, when Bernard Albin Gras first put his well-thought-out sketches to paper. Since then, the range has expanded to include further versions – here with a black frame and a copper-coloured lampshade. Conceived for offices and industry, the series was unique in its simple, robust yet ergonomic design. The basic form featured neither screws nor welded seams.

Lampe Gras lights are the epitome of functionalism and aesthetics; in particular, the design of the individual details – such as the arms, body, fittings and the composition of the parts – displays a fantastically well-thought-out originality that was far ahead of its time. Le Corbusier was fascinated by the modern design of Lampe Gras lights from an early stage and used them in his projects.
