"Give me a lamp that would look good in a loft in New York," Monika Mulder said to herself before sharpening her pencil and starting to design a mobile. She remembered the American city with its distinctive balconies and iron fire escapes adorning the tall red brick buildings in the bohemian neighbourhoods before crossing the East River via the Brooklyn Bridge, where she found the inspiration for Mobil.
A bohemian expression permeates the design, and just as Monika Mulder intended, the lamp possesses an elegance that a New York loft truly deserves – but it looks just as stunning in simple and traditional Scandinavian homes. Nordic design traditions have not been forgotten, and as always with Pholc lamps, Mobil embodies simplicity and elegant simplicity.
