Inspired by topiary sculptures, the designers at Maison Forestier in Paris attempt to bring botanical art inside the four walls of the house through lighting design. When Bernard Forestier first started Maison Forestier in 1992, he was inspired by French gardens. He was fascinated by how nature and design met in the impressive hedges and trees shaped like sculptures - and with the impressive French installations in mind, he set to work creating lamps with wire made of rusty metal, zinc and iron. Today, the business exists as a design collective where the designers have carte blanche to design as they please as long as they challenge and reinvent - however, the Forestier artists still often use thread and transparency to create their lamps.
