Functional lighting encapsulated in visual art: See the IXA series from Artemide
Stylish design meets flexible functionality in the new IXA lighting series, conceived by international design studio Foster + Partners for Italian Artemide. The lamps are characterized by their unique design concept that has balance, equilibrium and harmony at the heart of every decision made about the visual design language and functional layout of the lamp. When designing IXA, Foster + Partners were inspired by the dynamic sculptures of American sculptor Alexander Calder, which encapsulate the idea of elegant balance through precision and refined craftsmanship. Each of the different table, floor and wall lights in the series has the same spherical lamp head and slim frame, while some are equipped with a counterweight to create a beautiful interplay between lightness and heaviness in the contrasting shapes.
A key principle in the design of the beautiful new IXA lighting collection is the interplay between the visual aesthetics of the lamps and their functional properties. Thanks to the ingenious combination of weights and counterweights, each lamp can be rotated in multiple ways, allowing both the frame and lamp head to be adjusted and the direction of light changed. Several of the lamps are equipped with built-in dimmers on the lamp head. These allow you to steplessly adjust the light intensity up or down, so you also have flexibility and control over the lighting itself.
Each of the different lamp types within the IXA series comes in three color variants: White, black and yellow, all in a gorgeous monochrome color scheme that beautifully highlights the artistic expression of the lamp.
