Blown SW3 Pendant Light Silver - &Tradition

Blown SW3 pendant light is Samuel Wilkinson's first light for &Ttradition. It is a pendant light made of elegant, handblown glass with a quilted pattern, available in two versions. One is transparent with a subtle silver sheen, the other has an exciting sandblasted white matt finish.

The lampshade is intended as a playful exploration of the reflections, distortions and refractions experienced by a light source surrounded by patterned glass. Wilkinson explains that the idea started with looking at the world through a kind of filter, inspired by antique ceramics, old pieces of glass, lenses from very old lights, lighthouses and even a mirrored bottle. The quilted surface was also heavily inspired by seeds and berries, with raspberries at the forefront.
The production of Blown is an idiosyncratic combination of industrial processes and traditional craftsmanship. The texture of the glass is created using computer-aided design (CAD) to precisely control the blowing of each individual bubble. The craftsmanship leaves a deep mark through mouth-blowing, where shape and size are precisely controlled through the use of moulds.
