Blown SW4 Pendant Light Silver - &Tradition

Blown SW4 pendant light in Silver is Samuel Wilkinson's second lamp for &Ttradition. SW4 is slightly smaller and more compact than its big brother SW3 from 2014, but with the same great design.

It is a pendant light made of elegant handblown glass with a quilted pattern, available in two versions.
The lampshade is intended as a playful exploration of the reflections, distortions and refractions experienced by a light source surrounded by patterned glass. Wilkinson explains that the idea started with looking at the world through a kind of filter, inspired by antique ceramics, old pieces of glass, lenses from very old lights, lighthouses and even a mirrored bottle. The quilted surface was also heavily inspired by seeds and berries, with raspberries at the forefront.
The production of Blown is an idiosyncratic combination of industrial processes and traditional craftsmanship. The texture of the glass is created using computer-aided design (CAD) to precisely control the blowing of each individual bubble. The craftsmanship leaves a deep mark through mouth blowing, where shape and size are precisely controlled through the use of moulds.
