411 is a twentieth century icon. The lamp has its roots in 1922, when Bernard-Albin Gras first began drawing it, and the collection has done nothing but grow since. The lamp was designed for ten offices and considered incredibly unique, thanks to its simple and robust, yet ergonomic design. The central lamp body uses neither screws nor welds.
The functional aesthetic of the 411 is undeniable and the design of components like its arms, body, brackets and joining points is incredibly original, not to mention ahead of its time. Le Corbusier fell for the modern design of Lampe Gras and started using the lamps for his projects early on.
Nowadays, the Lampe Gras lamp is a popular collector’s item all over the world – especially in France, the United States and Japan. The talented and visionary designs of Bernard-Albin Gras have proven themselves timeless.
