Utzon JU1 pendant light – a design classic from 1947

The Utzon JU1 pendant light bears the name of its designer, Jørn Utzon, and at first glance does not reveal the impressive history behind its shape. The lampshade, constructed from several lacquered steel elements, was designed back in 1947.

Utzon was inspired by the ship drawings of his father, a yacht designer – a connection that reflects his lifelong fascination with maritime forms and light. In the JU1, these influences come together to create a stylish, timeless lamp design. The brightness of the pendant light can be regulated using an external phase-cut or phase-down dimmer and, thanks to the E27 socket, it is compatible with various bulbs. Its unique design is particularly well suited to rooms such as the living room or above the dining table.
