The Copenhagen SC6 Opal/Bronzed Brass pendant was designed with a strong maritime inspiration, as the gas lamps from the capital's harbour facilities had a powerful influence on its shape. The basic shape was modernised in the process, but the lacquered metal shade, which is stretched onto the cable with curved metal, has a historical background.
The starting point was to create a design that allowed for the use of different metals, but also that the design should be based on a purely sculptural angle with a simple finish. The Copenhagen SC7 Matt Black pendants are created with a unique sense of detail and focus on surface texture, combining the classic with the modern in a unique way.
It is no secret that Space Copenhagen has extensive experience as interior designers, and this is also evident in the care taken in the design. The flexibility built into the lamp and the attention to detail are enormous. Even the amount of light coming from the pendant was precisely planned from the outset. The lampshade is largest in the middle and tapers at both ends, giving the lamp fullness and weight and protecting the viewer from the direct light of the light source.
