Anglepoise Table Lamps

The mechanical engineer George Carwardine developed a new concept for a spring in 1932. By using four of these springs to support a swinging arm, he was able to create a lamp that was easy to move and still kept its position – that became the beginnings of the first Anglepoise lamp.

To this day, Anglepoise are still known for their table lamps that have served as the inspiration for innumerable other lamps. Although it has been refined and developed over time, the characteristic expression and functionality have been carefully preserved.

The minimalist and industrial look continues to be modern in current interior design. The Original 1227 table lamp - the first of the Anglepoise lamps – have been given a modern makeover with a glossy black lacquer. This ensures an elegant and exclusive expression, complete with a black fabric cable. It complements the Scandinavian style, both in terms of its gorgeous design but also thanks to its flexible and functional light.

The Type 75 table lamp from 1968 is a newer version, developed in collaboration with the British fashion designer, Paul Smith. He is best known for his men’s clothes, thanks to his prominent designs and love of colours – the designer DNA that runs through his veins is clearly reflected in his interpretation of the Type 75 table lamp, which stands out from the crowd with its eye-catching colours.
