Valentines’s Day – Buy the present for your special someone here!

On February 14th it starts!

It’s that time of year once again! The big day is right around the corner, and there are Cupids, filled chocolates, and rose petals everywhere. We are, of course, talking about Valentine’s Day, which takes place on February 14th! Valentine’s Day started a long time ago, when a priest named Valentine disobeyed the Emperor’s orders and wed soldiers who were forbidden from marrying. The holiday is massive in the US, but many other countries have adopted the tradition of love, including Denmark.

Is your husband, wife, or partner tired of the usual bouquet from the florist, classic socks, cards, or red wine? Then a gorgeous lamp just might be the perfect choice for this year’s Valentine’s Day gift. It’ll bring happiness and show off your creative side as you go for something out of the ordinary. We’ve made a list of great options below, to make finding a lovely lamp gift for your Valentine easy as pie!

1. Formakami - &Tradition

1. Formakami - &Tradition

The point at which the past becomes the present served as the inspiration for the designer Jaime Hayon when he put pen to paper and created the incredible JH collection, otherwise known as Formakami. The collection features hints from the traditional and classic Asian rice paper lamps, served in a modern, atypical shape. The lamp breaks with tradition but retains the quaint light and warm expression that rice paper lamps are known for. Find more rice paper lamps here! The Spanish designer has created four different lamps for this collection, and Formakami comes as a pendant and a table lamp.

2. Kizu – New Works

Valentine’s Day is upon us, so it’s time to pamper the ones you love. Some people go out for dinner, others go on trips—and at the end of the day, many hope for a kiss. And the kiss is the source of inspiration for this lamp. The exquisite Kizu was created by the Norwegian designer Lars Tornøe in 2015, and it has since been launched in various versions: small models, big models, portable models, and our very own Unique Marble, only available at Lampemesteren.

Kizu’s two geometric figures balance on top of each other, commanding attention. The sculptural expression challenges the beholder, and Kizu draws the eye whether it’s on or not. The kiss between the lampshade and the marble base disappears in a microscopic point, and whether you go for the dark, light, or grey version, this is an addition to your décor that will never go out of style. Tense floats through the room like a soft cloud, bathing its surroundings in a warm, comfortable glow. The lamp was designed by the duo Panter & Tourron, who have created designs for Airbnb, Balenciaga, Hermès, New Works, and many other brands. Tense is made with the innovative and atypical material Tyvek, which is reminiscent of paper but much stronger. When it was first launched, it only came as a pendant, but since then, the collection has grown to include various pendant sizes, table lamps, and wall lamps.

6. Fun – Verpan

6. Fun – Verpan

If you aren’t familiar with the legendary Danish designer, it can be difficult to place his designs historically due to their timeless, modern look. But Verner Panton actually designed this unique lamp collection all the way back in 1964. The story goes that Panton designed it because he wanted to create a lamp that was more than just a lamp. He wanted to create an experience. A fun experience—hence the name Fun.

Verpan now manufactures the various Fun lamps, which come as pendants, table lamps, floor lamps, and wall lamps. The lovely, exclusive lamps command attention, and when the many layers that make up the lampshade interact with the light, it can be hard to take your eyes off the Fun lamps.

8. 2097 – Flos

8. 2097 – Flos

In his lifetime from 1912 to 1985, the Italian designer Gino Sarfatti created more than 700 fixtures, so we have to assume that he knew a thing or two about lamps. If you dive into his collection, one model in particular has proven to be a global phenomenon: none other than the lovely 2097.

The model was designed in 1958 and remains one of the most popular chandeliers on the market. These days, the lamp is manufactured by the legendary brand Flos, and as always with Flos, you can expect a world-class lamp. 2097 comes in a range of sizes and materials.

9. Gatto – Flos

9. Gatto – Flos

When the legendary Italian designer Achille Castiglioni left his architecture studies and founded a studio in 1944 with his brothers Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and Livio Castiglioni, nobody could have predicted how important the three brothers would become in the world of lamp design—and although Livio pulled out of the collaboration in 1952, Castiglioni continues to be a famous name in designer circles.

Castiglioni is best known for its collaboration with Flos, a partnership that has created, for example, the lovely Gatto. Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni used a steel base and wire to create the frame, and the lampshade is a combination of glass fibre and rubber lacquer. The light is soft and quaint, making the lamp perfect for the cosy rooms in your home!
