Concept PH 3/2 Amber-Coloured Glass floor lamp in brass, also known as “The Water Pump”, is a Limited Edition of the iconic Poul Henningsen floor lamp. The floor lamp was first introduced in the 1950s, and before long, it was known as “The Water Pump”, thanks to the adjustable arm that could be raised and lowered.
The floor lamp has maintained the famous three-shade system invented by Poul Henningsen in 1926. His aim was to improve the light created by his lamps by reducing the blinding effect.
The lampshades are made from handblown amber-coloured glass that’s golden on both sides as well as semi-transparent, allowing the lamp to cast a warm, inviting light. Henningsen wanted to recreate the soft glow of the petroleum lamp that created the cosy atmosphere in homes before electricity became a standard feature in all homes.
The amber-coloured glass fits perfectly with the trends of our time, where we seek to bring more and more warmth into our homes. The floor lamp is reflective of the Nordic retro wave that’s found its way into private homes in recent years. The warm colour is supported by the brass frame that creates a gorgeous contrast to the semi-transparent glass. Over time, the untreated brass will achieve a natural patina, meaning that all lamps will eventually develop their own unique look.
Limited Edition – Available from October 1st until December 31st 2019
