With the launch of the new Kori lighting collection, the Finnish designer brand
Artek offers beautiful lighting in a harmonious interplay between direct and indirect light. The brains behind the beautiful design is the Stockholm-based design and architecture group
TAF Studio founded by designers Gabriella Lenke and Mattias Ståhlbom. TAF Studio is particularly concerned with the origins and context of interior design. They use materials and design techniques in new, innovative ways to create designs that are playful and thought-provoking at the same time, designs of the highest quality to bring joy and benefit to everyday life.
The Kori series, released in 2023, is named after the Finnish word for 'basket', which perfectly describes the shapely lampshade that is the signature of this series. The narrow shade embraces the light source and is somewhat reminiscent of the classic road lamp in its shape. The characteristic shape of the shade is the core element that, through soft, diffused lighting, creates the warm, inviting atmosphere that is a hallmark of all the lights in the range. This is achieved by enclosing the shade around the light source to avoid glare, while keeping the top and bottom open to allow light to flow out in a harmonious two-part glow. The opening at the top also makes it easy to change the light source as needed. The lamp is fitted with a large standard socket that fits a wide range of bulb models. The Kori range also includes pendants in several variants, including extra lampshades that add an individual look to the design and change the light pattern so that all the light is directed downwards. The Kori lamps come in two color variants: matte white and matte orange.
