Luceplan wins Red Dot with Illan pendant - Best of the Best
The impressive Illan pendant from Luceplan receives another award. ‘Best of the Best’ celebrates the best in light design as part of the prestigious Red Dot Design Award 2021.

Illan was designed by Zsuzsanna Horvath in 2019. The lamp has been the target of much attention since day one, thanks to its impressive expression, technical interpretation, and material terms. A few months after its launch, Illan received the ’Design Plus’ award from Light + Building 2020, and it has now been celebrated with the coveted ’Best of the Best’ 2021 from Red Dot Design Award.

In its justification, the Red Dot organisation explains that the international jury has assessed more than 60 different products. The focuses of the evaluation process were the quality of the design and the degree of innovation. The Illan pendant from Luceplan convinced the members of the jury who voted unanimously to grant it with the Red Dot ’Best of the Best’ award in 2021.

Innovative design that spotlights sustainability

On top of its aesthetic and lively expression, the Illan pendant has a light movement to it. The layered lampshade is made of thin flexible wood, and gravity helps create the volume that gives the lamp its personality. The wooden structure is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council®) certified. Aside from the sustainable materials, the manufacturing processes have minimal impact on the environment. The size of the packaging is limited, allowing savings in terms of materials and shipping costs. Finally, the highly efficient light diodes and dimming systems ensure significant energy savings.

The Red Dot jury was convinced not just by the innovative design but also on the focus on sustainability—a conviction that landed the Illan pendant the title ’Best of the Best’ 2021.
