A new special edition of the iconic 9602 designer floor lamp by Paavo Tynell has found its way into Danish living rooms. The floor lamp, nicknamed the "Chinese hat" due to its flat cone shape, was conceived by Finnish designer Paavo Tynell in 1935 for the Aulanko Hotel in Finland. The 9602 lamp is one of the Finnish lighting master's most acclaimed works and a prime example of his expertise in creating a functional design with a timeless aesthetic that makes it an ever-stylish and ever-current addition to the interior.

The special edition is designed with a pleated cotton textile shade with the easily recognizable Le Jardin de Palais pattern created by French designer and fashion designer Pierre Frey. The lamp is launched in collaboration with the Parisian textile house Maison Pierre Frey, a long-time style and design leader known for their vibrant and detailed motifs. The colourful, variegated and meticulously executed pattern forms a harmonious contrast to the strict design language that characterizes Paavo Tynell's masterpiece. The lamp retains its wide, triangular shade, shiny brass base and the matching brass element at the top of the shade that gives the series its high recognition value. The open, wide shade ensures a diffused glow from the light source behind it, making the 9602 both an efficient and decorative light source to complement the overall lighting in the room. The frame is wrapped in rattan, which adds a tactile element to the lamp's appearance and blends beautifully with the naturalistic garden motif on the shade. Thus, the Pierre Frey edition of 9602 strikes the perfect balance between exclusivity and accessibility in one beautiful creation.
